Intending to reach anyone here with some product or industrial design chops but anyone with an input is welcome. I spent the day looking at all of the components I want to fit into an audio amplifier. It is somewhere around the size of a typical router. My ideas thus far are ehh at best. I just abstracted the realization that this is an issue common to most electronics products, so who does it best or what ideas do you like most for shapes and design?

I was putting up some wall decorations earlier today and was painstakingly realigning everything until it looked level to my eyes. An argument can be made that all actions people take are for their own self-interest. Even things like helping the community is done for reciprocal benefits for yourself plus the general increase in respect.

What are the modern design trends you hate most? Feel free to rant! Mine are: - Physical buttons are out of fashion, now EVERYTHING must have a touch screen instead! Especially if it makes the appliance more inconvenient to use. Like having to press a flimsy touch screen ten times to scroll through a washing machine's programs instead of just turning a physical knob and pressing a physical start button. - Every website looks like it's made for a phone and was vomited by the same app in slightly different flavors of vomit. And then having the nerve to tell you to download the mobile app 😑 - Why does everything need to be an app by the way? Especially when the only advantage the app gives you over the website is that you're not constantly spammed with messages telling you to use the app... Are you making your website shittier on purpose so I feel like I have to use the app?... I don't WANT your app, you can shove it where the sun doesn't shine. - Actually EVERYTHING looks like it's made for a phone... Like what's the deal with all those hamburger menus on DESKTOP software? Please just put a regular menu and same me some pointless clicking, it's not like you're lacking screen space. I especially hate that those menus can't be opened from the keyboard like regular menus. You know, "keyboards"? Those things that people on DESKTOPS use? - All phones look the same. All laptops look the same. It's boring as hell. - Laptops must be as thin and flimsy as possible. Bonus points if you can't even fit an ethernet port. - I'm so sick of rounded corners everywhere... 😭

Just looking for basic glassware, bunsen, distillation, and stir plate for working with simple stuff related to circuit board etching, tinning, through hole plating, and some reverse engineering stuff like dissolving epoxy chip packaging for die shots. I'd like to be able to shape some glass. Above all, I'm looking for cheap stuff that is barely adequate in the few hundred dollars class total. Like I have no issues hacking a thrift store hotplate with a rare earth magnet on a small motor. Are there any cheap options to stay safe and functional?

I'm very picky about what I allow through a firewall, and deviant art is heavily integrated with the Israeli company Wix. More than I care to enable. Like there is some kind of code or executable between thumbnails and full images that requires trusting a wix server implicitly. I draw the line when the DNS listing could be accessed by other websites and is not just a media server or CDN. Anyways, is there anywhere else with ultra niche type science fiction stuff beyond childishness, fantasy, and franchises and some hard science fiction stuff like O'Neill cylinders?

This fucked with me a bit. Al Jazeera have 15million subscribers. Even less than two years ago, they had videos getting tens of millions of views. Now, everything has dropped off a cliff since then. Most of it sits around 5-15k, but the shit about JD Vance, or Israel, or Big Tech? 1.6k, 1.9k. There's outliers, stuff the mainstream media is talking about international students under Trump, that's got 57k. But I'm terrified to say we're watching the suppression of independent media, right in front of us. Holy fucking shit.
