Harry Connick, Jr. turned down inclusion in proposed New Orleans Walk of Fame, per NOLA.com:[Connick] requested that his name be taken off the Walk of Fame list in favor of any number of local luminaries who, in Connick’s estimation, deserve induction before him.“As much as I would love to see my name on the NOLA Walk of Fame one day, I don't believe I'm worthy of such an honor, considering the names that are conspicuously absent from the list,” he wrote. He offered several substitute honorees, including piano legends Ellis Marsalis, Professor Longhair and James Booker. Connick also suggested his pal Branford Marsalis, the world-renowned saxophonist, as another musician who warranted inclusion.“I respectfully ask that you consider replacing my name with one of the others I've mentioned,” Connick wrote. “Hopefully, in the future, after these legends (and more!) are acknowledged, I might be lucky enough to see my name among them on Canal Street.”@noladon #NewOrleans #HarryConnick
